Signs of Undiagnosed Cardiovascular Disease

If you happen to notice a strange, uncomfortable, or painful feeling in your chest, your first thought could very likely be “Is it coming from my heart?”

It is a valid thing to question. Chest pain sends most of us into a state of worry and concern and with good reason. But don’t panic straight off. There can be many reasons for pressure, discomfort, and even pain.

Some of the causes can require medical attention but others may just be a temporary feeling. Regardless, your body is trying to send you a message, so it’s best to listen.

The #1 Killer globally is still heart disease. It is vital to know what to look out for.

High blood pressure is an absolute to monitor. A high reading here or there may mean you had a stressful day or possibly drank too much coffee. Lifestyle choices can elevate your blood pressure temporarily. Make sure to monitor your readings regularly. If your pressure keeps reading as high, it is a good idea to let your doctor know and discuss options.

Cardiovascular Disease Defined

A heart condition known as cardiovascular disease involves the buildup of plaque in the heart’s arteries. It can prevent blood flow properly and trigger a heart attack.

In the US, cardiovascular disease is regarded as the leading cause of death. It can be referred to as coronary artery disease or heart disease.

Before people start experiencing symptoms of heart disease, they usually don’t realize that they have a problem.

  • Chest pain, tightness, pressure, or discomfort
  • Shortness of breath
  • Pain, numbness, weakness, or coldness in arms or legs
  • Pain in the neck, jaw, throat, upper abdomen, or back

Cardiovascular disease can lead to a buildup of plaque in the heart’s walls. High blood pressure can also go unnoticed. Being aware of the various risk factors that can affect your heart and blood pressure can help prevent heart disease.

If you suspect you may have high blood pressure or other heart issues it is best to get checked out.
